Military personnel and system integrators discuss the future

Leading military personnel and system integrators gathered in the largest ever meeting of its kind to discuss the sector's latest developments.

Numerous national defence departments were represented alongside LogicaCMG, General Dynamics, and other military system integrators. Seminar topics covered future battlespace spectrum management, planning and modelling the battlespace. Case studies covered the effects of windfarms on radar and communication systems and spectrum sharing between military and civil systems. Delegates were provided with practical sessions on planning trunked networks to meet the commander's tempo, deploying a detection/interception baseline and tactical radars and arguments as to whether WiMAX was a viable alternative to EPLRS in providing network enabled capability.

One delegate said: "The main benefit of attending was listening to ATDI's views on the future of spectrum management and how the Cave report will change both military and civilian thinking."

Adrian Graham, director at ATDI, says: "This was our most successful seminar yet with attendance at an all time high. I think all delegates benefited greatly from the variety of subjects covered and the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals."

The meeting was held at The George Hotel, Crawley.
